Economy Watchers Survey in Japan averaged 44.65 from 2000 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 57.90 in March of 2014 and a record low of 15.90 in December of 2008. The Economy Watchers Current Index measures the current mood of businesses that directly service consumers, such as barbers, taxi drivers, and waiters. The data is compiled from a survey of about 2,050 workers. A reading above 50.0 indicates optimism; below indicates pessimism.
