“We may be entering a new year, but we are certainly dealing with old challenges. This event is an opportunity for us to review what is happening around us, and how we, as a faith based community, will combine our forces to help straighten out areas that have drifted too far off the track,” Rev. Harney said.
After brunch, attendees from dozens of area churches will break up into panels to address drug abuse, crime, failing schools, homelessness and human rights violations. Each panel will be facilitated by an activist or expert in the field.
The panelists will be asked to report on a suggested resolution to each specific topic which will be shared with all of the guests towards the end of the event. Anyone interested in one or more of these areas is invited to share with the diverse guests in brunch and dialogue. There is no charge for the event. Please contact Rev. Pat Harney at 727-467-6860 for more information.
The Fort Harrison:
Since its restoration in 1927, the Fort Harrison has been the home to many charitable organizations. The latest owner, the Church of Scientology, completed a top to bottom restoration of the For Harrison in 2009, and since then has hosted over 650 community events there, inspired by a quote from Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard: “A community that pulls together can make a better society for all.”
