Altimmune Announces Oral Presentation of Pemvidutide Clinical Data at 59th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Sept. 26, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Altimmune, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALT), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, today announced that Dr. Louis J. Aronne, Founder and Director of the Center for Weight Management at Weill-Cornell Medical Center, and a leading authority in obesity, will present the results of its 24-week clinical trial of pemvidutide in the treatment of subjects with overweight or obesity in an oral presentation at the 59^th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Hamburg, Germany. Pemvidutide is a novel, investigational, peptide-based GLP-1/glucagon dual receptor agonist in development for the treatment of obesity and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Pemvidutide is a novel, investigational, peptide-based GLP-1/glucagon dual receptor agonist in development for the treatment of obesity and NASH. Activation of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors is believed to mimic the complementary effects of diet and exercise on weight loss, with GLP-1 suppressing appetite and glucagon increasing energy expenditure.
