Microsoft’s AI tool, Recall, remains inaccessible for public use and is embedded within Windows 11, making it impossible for users to fully remove it.A recent report by the German website, Deskmodder, shed light on a potential change in Windows 11’s latest 24H2 version. The update, KB5041865, suggested that users might be able to uninstall Recall through the Windows Features menu. However, Brandon LeBlanc, a senior product manager for Windows, clarified this information in a statement to The Verge. He noted that the listing of Recall as an option in the ‘Turn Windows features on or off’ section of the Control Panel was an error and reassured that this mistake would be corrected in an upcoming update.Users cannot completely uninstall Recall from their Copilot Plus PCs but retain some control over the feature. They can disable Recall or restrict its monitoring capabilities, addressing some concerns about privacy and data collection.Recall operates in the background, capturing screenshots of user activity to enable users to search for and revisit past moments, providing richer context beyond conventional browsing history.Originally set for release alongside Copilot Plus PCs in June, Microsoft delayed Recall’s launch after security experts voiced concerns about its potential vulnerabilities and privacy issues. In response, Microsoft has made significant updates to Recall and now plans to offer a preview of the feature to Windows Insiders on Copilot Plus PCs in October. This preview will enable selected users to test the tool and provide feedback before a broader rollout. The material has been provided by InstaForex Company – www.instaforex.com
