IHS Markit is scheduled to publish the UK flash composite PMI data at 4.30 am ET Thursday. Economists forecast the composite index to fall to 54.5 in September from 54.8 in August.
Ahead of the data, the pound climbed against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 1.3665 against the greenback, 150.21 against the yen, 1.2614 against the franc and 0.8581 against the euro as of 4:25 am ET.
