Spain’s unemployment figures saw an unexpected rise in August, according to data released by the labor ministry on Tuesday.The number of unemployed individuals climbed by 21,884 in August compared to the previous month, contrary to expectations of a 6,300 decline. This increase is slightly lower than the 24,826 rise observed during the same period last year.Despite this uptick, the total count of unemployed persons stood at 2.57 million, marking the lowest figure for August since 2008.In terms of sectors, the services industry experienced the largest increase in unemployment, with a rise of 20,189 from July. The construction and industrial sectors also saw increases of 4,187 and 2,995, respectively. Conversely, the agricultural sector witnessed a decrease in unemployment by 2,337.Additionally, the number of unemployed individuals has decreased by 130,579 over the past year.
