United Airlines (UA) has signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to outfit over a thousand planes with Starlink Wi-Fi over the coming years. This ambitious deal seeks to provide “gate-to-gate connectivity,” transforming the in-flight experience by enabling passengers to access movies, TV shows, social media, online shopping, and gaming without interruption. The airline highlighted SpaceX’s satellite service advantages, noting it delivers “internet access around the globe, including over oceans, polar regions, and other remote areas previously unreachable by traditional cellular or Wi-Fi signals.”Testing of the service is slated to begin in early 2025, with the first passenger flights offering the new Wi-Fi expected later that same year.”Everything you can do on the ground, you’ll soon be able to do onboard a United plane at 35,000 feet, virtually anywhere in the world,” said United CEO Scott Kirby.Currently, the airline provides in-flight Wi-Fi for domestic and short-haul international flights at $8 for loyalty program members and $10 for other passengers, according to CNBC.It is worth noting that other airlines, such as Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue Airways (JBLU), already offer free in-flight Wi-Fi to their customers. The material has been provided by InstaForex Company – www.instaforex.com
