AB Volvo, the renowned Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles, has unveiled plans to launch its next-generation heavy-duty electric truck, boasting an impressive range of 600 kilometers. This new long-range edition of the Volvo FH Electric is scheduled for release in the latter half of 2025.The company highlighted that this extended range marks a significant advancement in long-distance transportation, achieved without any tailpipe emissions. The 600-kilometer range is made possible by Volvo’s innovative e-axle driveline technology, which allows for a substantial increase in onboard battery capacity.Additionally, Volvo pointed out that improvements in battery efficiency, an enhanced battery management system, and overall powertrain efficiency contribute to this extended range. The new vehicle will enable transport companies to operate electric trucks on interregional and long-distance routes, completing a full working day without the need for recharging. As per the company, battery-electric trucks are crucial for the transportation sector—which accounts for seven percent of global carbon emissions—in reducing the climate impact.Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, remarked, “Our new electric flagship will significantly complement our extensive range of electric trucks, enabling zero-exhaust emission transport even for longer distances. It is an optimal solution for transport companies that log high annual mileage and are committed to reducing CO2 emissions.”To date, Volvo Trucks, a leader in medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, has introduced eight battery-electric models to its lineup. The company has successfully delivered over 3,800 electric trucks to clients in 46 countries globally. This diverse product range allows for the electrification of urban and regional distribution, construction, waste management, and, soon, long-distance transport. In mid-August, Volvo also announced plans to establish a new heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Expected to become operational in 2026, the Monterrey facility will concentrate on producing heavy-duty conventional vehicles for both the Volvo and Mack brands. The material has been provided by InstaForex Company – www.instaforex.com
