Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. said Wednesday that it has seen a 30% increase in vaccine administration in key areas that had been slower to vaccinate including Florida, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky and Louisiana. Testing volume also doubled in June and July with Florida, Missouri and parts of the Gulf Coast seeing the largest increases of up to 30% week-over-week. The pharmacy retailer is bringing back its mask mandate for all workers in stores, distribution centers and offices nationwide, irrespective of vaccination status, effective today. And staff members based in U.S. support offices will be required to be vaccinated by September 30 or enroll in a COVID-19 testing program if they’re unable to be vaccinated. At this time, the vaccine requirement doesn’t apply to those working in stores, distribution centers, other facilities or non-support offices.
