In March 2025, Switzerland’s retail sales experienced a rise of 2.2% year-on-year, up from a revised increase of 1.2% in the previous month. This marks the ninth consecutive month of growth in the retail sector, driven by continued advances in food, beverages, and tobacco sales, which grew by 0.5% compared to 0.7% in February, and non-food product sales, which significantly increased by 4.9% from 1.0%. Significant growth was observed in the sale of information and communication equipment, which surged by 23.3% from 10.8%, as well as in other goods, and service station sales, which saw increases of 4.1% from 0.7% and 2.6% from 2.8%, respectively. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, there was a 0.6% increase in retail trade in March, marking a recovery from the previous month’s revised decline of 1.3%.
