In February 2025, Romania witnessed a significant rise in producer prices, which surged by 4.03% compared to the same month the previous year. This marks a notable rebound from the previous month’s downwardly revised 0.34% decline and is the first uptick in producer prices over a span of six months. The latest increase is also the most rapid since May 2023. The surge was primarily driven by elevated costs in sectors such as water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities, which saw a 9.99% rise; electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, which grew by 8.46%; and manufacturing, with an increase of 2.37%. In contrast, mining and quarrying activities remained virtually unchanged, with a slight dip of 0.01%. On a month-to-month comparison, producer prices climbed by 3.56%.
