In February 2025, Hungary experienced a 9.3% year-on-year increase in gross average wages, reaching HUF 661,400. This represents a deceleration from the 10.4% growth observed in the preceding month and is the slowest wage growth since February 2023. The easing was apparent across all sectors, with wage increases recorded at 9.5% in the public sector (down from 11.8% in January), 9% in the private sector (down from 9.9%), and 10.7% in the non-profit sector (down from 11.9%). Excluding the effects of one-off payments and bonuses, wages in February were 9.4% higher than the same month the previous year, standing at HUF 632,500. For the January to February period, average gross wages saw a 9.8% increase overall.
