Switzerland’s annual inflation rate remained at 0.3% in March 2025, consistent with February’s level—the lowest in nearly four years—and slightly beneath the anticipated 0.5%. Stability was observed in price growth for sectors such as housing and energy (at 1.4%), communication (at 0.7%), recreation and culture (at 1%), and education (at 0.8%). However, transport costs declined further, dropping to -2.1% compared to -1.1% in February. There was also a decrease in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.2% versus -0.6%) and household goods and services (-0.7% versus -1.2%), though these fell at a more moderated rate than the previous month. Core inflation, which excludes the more volatile segments like unprocessed food and energy, remained steady at 0.9% for the third month running. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was flat in March, meeting expectations, after experiencing a 0.6% increase the prior month.
