Dr. Gordon Rausser is an American economist. He is currently the Robert Gordon Sproul Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Dean Emeritus, College of Natural Resources and more recently, a professor at the Graduate School at the University of California, Berkeley. On three separate occasions, he served as chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Resource Economics, served two terms as Dean of the College of Natural Resources, and has served on the Board of Trustees of public universities and two private universities. He has served the U.S. government on two separate occasions while on university leave: first on the Council of Economic Advisers (1986-1987 and secondly as Chief Economist at the Agency of International Development (1988-90), and relatedly as President of the Institute of Policy Reform (1990-1994) in Washington D.C. Over the years, he has been appointed to more than 20 board of directors of both private and publicly traded companies, including chairman of several of such boards and has been the recipient of 38 meritorious awards for innovative research, publications of enduring quality, teaching, academic leadership, and philanthropy.
