Understanding Ukraine’s War Origins and Global Impact: Insights from Historian and Former Diplomat Professor Michael Kimmage

WHAT: Dr. Michael Kimmage, chairman of the CUA History Department, discusses the global impact of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and previews his forthcoming book, “Collisions: The Origins of the War in Ukraine and the New Global Instability” in a lecture moderated by Resident Fellow Maria Lipman.

DETAILS: Dr. Kimmage is a widely published historian and former State Department official with expertise in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. His forthcoming book is one of the first histories of the origins of the war. In it, he provides an account of the war’s global dimensions and describes how a confluence of several intersecting causes led to the shattering collisions between Russia and Ukraine, Europe and Russia, and Russia and the United States.
This lecture is hosted by CUA’s School of Arts & Sciences and is the first in the History Department’s annual colloquia series.
